This was an upgrade from the Marcy Pro 990. It's a significant upgrade in quality (it oughta be right). I had some minor complaints with the 990. The weights were big so your range of travel was short, I frequently found myself fidgeting with chains so I could get a good travel during a workout without topping out short of a full movement. It was also a little loose on the press and butterfly, so you were bottoming out before getting a good stretch across the chest.
Pros:
1. The weights are metal and slim. You get so much travel, no more custom fitting chains for each exercise.
2. The "flipper" at the lower pulley was a fantastic idea! Somewhere to stand level, so no more lifting the machine up while doing curls or calf raises.
3. It's tall! Bottoming out before reaching the top of a lat pull is a thing of the past, as well as lifting off the seat thanks to the knee bars in the back. Too tall now for a face pull without leaning back significantly but I have another machine for that. Worth the tradeoff.
4. I really like the independent movement of the press and butterfly bars. You actually get some stability work in there too. You can go as narrow or as wide as you like.
5. The added row is great! No more sitting on the floor.
6. The end caps holding the cushions on the bars are great, no more fighting the foam sliding off. The "leather" covers were a nice addition.
7. Adjustable seat and back are always a welcome treat.
Cons: Not really cons, just me nitpicking
1. I do miss the preacher bench, but I knew it was gone when I purchased.
2. The cage around the weights is about 2 inches too narrow on the opening to grab the weight selector plate quickly. Really though it takes 5 seconds instead of 2.
3. I do wish the back cushion could come straight out, as well as the tilt forward that it has now.
All said, I'm really happy with the purchase. It's a beast and it looks cool. The room that this is in is 6' x 10", it fit's perfectly.
