Marcy Home Gym System 150lb Weight Stack Machine | MWM-988

I bought this for my dad about a month ago and all the black nuts and bolts are starting to rust already. This was supposed to replace his old machines with something new and less worn. Truly disappointing in this one.

I use it 4-5 times a week. I would like to see a pin instead of a screw for fastening the preacher stand. Maybe I’ll drill it out.

I decided to give a review of this product. I purchased Dec 2018 and it is still in top condition. I decided to go with this home gym because I didn't like to wait for machines until the person using it, is finished doing their routine. I could use it anytime of day, I did not like going to the gym after working all day. It was the best thing I have done for my health and fitness.

I use this regularly, but I only use 60 pounds worth of weights. (They had discontinued the 150-pound version when I bought it.) I've had this for about two years, and it works well. Initially, I had a problem with a part not aligning right. After sending some pictures, the part was replaced. Unfortunately, due to Covid issues at the time, that took a while.

I like the gym, and the only real issue I see is the lack of an adjustable seat.

Great machine for the price, my only complaint was there was some damage to the weight cover most likely from shipping and there was at least on place the finish chipped on the arm bars. As far as functioning sometimes the chain for the pull up bar gets stuck on the base for the preacher pad, but otherwise it has worked great.

I waited for the best deal of the year to snag my MWM-988 gym. Score! Received item very promptly! All pieces were there, with the exception of a couple of screws, which I also promptly received, but I put this thing together by myself! The instruction book was simple and easy to follow and when I got to the pulleys and was needing a bit of extra help, I watched the online video on the assembly and finished it right up. One piece of advice, when you go to use it for the first time, if something doesnt feel quite right, stop and check your pulleys! My pulleys were correct, the one in the very back jumped off, and it kind of scuffed up the outside a bit. Not an issue as far as use, but just make sure. Mine felt strange after a few leg extensions, and I didnt stop to see why. Been using for maybe a week at this point, and I am already seeing some definition in my legs. YAY! Gonna love this gym. Money well spent to improve myself!

This was the only weight stack home gym that would fit in my basement with 80 inch ceilings. The highest point is 78 inches and it slopes down to 70 inches above the weight stack so I was even able to slip it under the heating duck.
Plus it is a great system with a smooth pulley setup. I definitely would recommend it to others.

Needs just a few feet of space in my crowded garage. Love it and will surely help me stay fit. For the low price, what more can you ask.

I am mechanically challenged but was able to assemble the home gym in about a day by myself. I am 6 foot 1 and am able to do everything I usually do in my gym except aerobic cross training. The equipment is solid. I am very pleased with my purchase -- and the price was right!

I reviewed several weight machines both inexpensive and expensive. I found this model to be perfectly in the middle.
I took all the components out of the boxes and laid them out. I then checked off each one and quantity to ensure I had everything.
It took me about 4-5 hours to assemble but the directions were very good. All pictures with no verbiage.
I have been working out daily for about 3 weeks now and the quality seems fine especially for this price point.
Not disappointed. I highly recommend this product.

I really like the quality of my MWM-988 Marcy Home Gym. I am also very happy with their great customer service, making me a very satisfied customer.

This is a great home gym with all the features it has and the size of the machine. We bought a TRX band and extra bars to use with it.

The assembly manual is very detailed so although it takes a couple of hours, assembly went very well. They even provide a few extra hardware pieces. When youre assembling the main frame they tell you not to tighten several joints until theyre all assembled. I didnt see where they ever went back and told you to tighten them but I guess thats common sense. Also, when I was sliding the foam sleeves over the peck exercise bars it helped to spray a little WD40 on the bar ends and wipe off the excess before trying to slide them on.
The assembled machine works pretty well if youre an average size guy but theres no adjustability in the seating or cable termination points so if youre 5 feet 10 then it fits, too far either side of that might cause problems. I have a 32 inches inseam and the leg extension exercise causes my feet to touch the floor if I wear a sport shoe with thick soles. If youre legs are long you might consider screwing some 2X4s to the bottom of the machine before you assemble it. If it fits you , the exercises are ergonomically very good except for the arm curl position. Its not a total loss but its not good.
Although I didnt see it mentioned anywhere but if you sit on the floor in front of it, you can add a pulling exercise that works well for the middle back.
This machine is a great deal for the money. Enjoy!

Very good overall. Bought as an alternative to going to gym during pandemic. Like others mentioned directions are not the best but as long as you take your time (and use a ratchet set not adjustable wrench) it's not too bad to assemble (took me about 3-4 hours). Machine overall is good. Built better than I thought. Has decent number of exercises. Weights do not go in 5 or 10lb increments as others noted. Had one damaged arm on delivery but Marcy sent replacement in a week and all is well.

This product is as expected and then some. It's a great addition to my workout area. Ease of assembly, I was hitting the stacks the same day. Highly recommend purchasing.

Great home gym. Does everything I would expect it to and more. Perfect value, easy to assemble.

Happy family! My HS junior and middle schooler assembled this by themselves in an afternoon. After 3 weeks of 3 users still running great. Solid unit and we don't have to go to a gym!!

Very nice product, easy to build(just follow the pictures). If they have one in stock get it, they will be gone very fast.

Really well built machine. Took two of us to put it together, about five hours. I would say it requires two people.
Machine is awesome. Ability to do so many exercises, especially if you have extra connector pieces (like a tricep rope, straight bar, etc...) Perfect for this quarantine crap where the gym randomly closes all the time.

I dont think I will ever need to go the Gym again. I love this so much I bought a second one for my son, so he can work out with his pals in collage until Covid is done!

I wish they would charge us $50 more and add additional bars and a rope. I ended up buying those and it increased my exercises considerably.

After decades of free weights I was experiencing too many soft tissue injuries. Having used machines in gyms when we have been on the road, I decided this was the way to go, but we are isolated and I prefer to work out at home as I have normally done. Based on the reviews (some of which on other brands of home gyms were horror stories) I chose this unit. Now, after several work outs, I could not be more pleased. The machine is well designed, well engineered, and seems very rugged and durable. It took some time to put it together, but I went slowly and methodically to make sure I got it right. All the parts were included, and everything fit as it should. It was just a matter of following the diagram instructions. One suggestion if you buy this unit, and before you receive it: Invest in a 16mm ratchetting box end wrench and a metric (Allen) wrench set that comes as a single unit and opens/closes like a folding knife. This will be a super saver during assembly. Overall, I could not be more satisfied. Nicely done Marcy.

This is a solid entry level home weight stack. It is short enough to fit in a standard sizes room which makes the high cable a bit of a short range of motion for taller people. Directions for assembly are great and easy to put together.

This is the best exercise equipment I have ever purchased. Both my husband and use it. It wasnt too difficult to assemble. One plastic piece was broken when it arrived, but we superglued it and it works fine. I wish I had bought this machine sooner.

I never purchased a workout machine and I was surprised how well it works.
